Silent Hill 2 brings players back to the eerie town of Silent Hill in a story with characters. You must assume the role of James Sunderland, a regular guy who receives a cryptic letter from his wife asking him to meet her at Silent Hill. There's only one problem -- his wife has been dead for three years. Nevertheless, the mystery of the letter compels him to return to the horror and danger that waits in Silent Hill.

Strengths: Horror game with a creepy atmosphere
Weakness: Combat system and hard puzzles
Silent Hill 2 is a horror themed game with a creepy atmosphere. It is truly one of the best horror games. The story is deep and creepy, and makes you come back for more. The only flaw in the game is that the puzzles can be frustratingly difficult. The combat can be lame and hard to control. Nevertheless, if you are into horror movie and such, this game is certainly a must try.
Strengths: Creepy atmosphere, excellent story that keeps you thinking, replay value.
Weakness: Controls.
Silent Hill 2 is my personal favorite in the Silent Hill series. Every aspect of this game flows together perfectly to provide a memorable experience that will have you guessing and keep you coming back for more. The game features many endings, that will keep seasoned veterans satisfied for quite a while. The creepy atmosphere from Silent Hill 1 is greatly expanded upon in this sequel. Other...
Strengths: Scary game with great atmasphere
Weakness: Hard puzzles
This is a pretty fun game. There are several moments that are very scary. I think that this game is more scary then the Resident Evil serries (I have not played RE 4). The main problem with this game is that the puzzles are sometimes frustratingly difficult. I tried to defeat the game without using a stategy guide, but some of the puzzle are just too dificult to figure out. This game is worth its...
Strengths: Scary, Really Really Scary, Good Story, Multiple Endings, Well-designed Puzzles, Superb Graphics, Good Character Designs, Disgusting Bad Guys!
Weakness: Lame Combat, Camera Issues, Slow Pace
Silent Hill 2 is a truly scary experience. The game is scary...I mean, really scary. The graphics are truly amazing. The environments are filled with gore and blood, and the environments are really dark (this adds to a really scary feeling). The monsters, although they get repetitive after a while, are truly disgusting (in a good way, of course). The combat is not really that difficult, but some...
Strengths: Very Scary game - spooky foggy atmospheric environment - great storyline
Weakness: Camera view can lack at times
After playing the original , this game was a must-have. The story is as follows : Your character gets a letter from his wife - only she is dead. This takes you on the road to Silent Hill where you find terror incarnate. You face horrifying monsters and a number of puzzles on your journey to find the source of the letter. Those that have seen the recent movie will recognize some of the creatures...
Strengths: Great creey atmosphere
Weakness: Frustrating puzzles
Silent Hill 2 is an excellent scary game that replies on bizarre and disturbing factors for its horror. It has a very creepy atmosphere that works very well in this genre of games. The storyline is well written and can be deeper than one would initially think. The frustration in this game is the puzzles, which can be very difficult to solve. They can literally get you stuck in the game, until you...
Strengths: Great creepy atmosphere, controls better then Resident Evil, good story.
Weakness: Fustrating puzzles, bizzare looking characters, bad voice acting.
While Resident Evil has always been about zombies, Silent Hill is a different type of horror game that relies more on bizarre and disturbing aspects. The graphics and sound are great in this game and create a scary mood and creepy sense of paranoia. The controls are solid overall but they could be tighter (still better then Resident Evil though). The one thing you should be prepared for are the...
It's been a long time since I've played a survival/horror game with sound as powerful as Silent Hill 2. Come to think of it, the last game with comparable sound was the original SH. That useful/annoying/terrifying radio from the first game is back. Just like before, whenever a monster is near by, the radio's volume increases immensely, filling your ears with the sound of impending doom. The only...

Story Driven Horror Game
Strengths: Excellent story with multiple endings.
Weakness: Gameplay can be on the weak side, because of the somewhat lackluster combat.
Sequel to one of my most favorite games of all-time. The player controls the character named James Sunderland. Responding to a letter from his wife, he's come to the town of Silent Hill. Only problem is she died 3 years ago. You don't need to have played the first Silent Hill at all to enjoy this game. The only thing Silent Hill 1 and Silent Hill 2 share, as far as the story is concerned, is the...
