Description
The "2005" edition of EA Sports annual pro baseball offering takes to the field with a few minor changes designed to enhance gameplay in a major-league way. The MVP Baseball 2005 pitching meter may be a bit more forgiving than the previous year's version, but its smaller green zone makes it more challenging to throw a spot-on "perfect pitch." At the plate, batters can now move around in the box, and the new "Hitter's Eye" option is designed to mimic an experienced sluggers' split-second intuitions by causing a pitched ball to briefly flash with a color that hints at its spin and trajectory -- white for a fastball, red for a curve, and so on. Not all changes aid the offense, however, as adjustments have also been made to the speed and artificial intelligence of fielders, allowing them to react more quickly and perform more accurately as a team. For gamers who like to run their clubs from the front office, the game's new Ownership Mode is intended to let them truly take charge of their MLB organizations, adding business-sim aspects to the game that call on virtual team owners to design, develop, and manage their own ballparks.

Strengths: Great gameplay, deep franchise mode, fun mini games.
Weakness: Weak presentation, weak announcers, average visuals and player models.
With 2K winning the MLB license, this will be the last installment of MVP (or Triple Play if you prefer) for the forseeable future. EA definitely went out with a bang since MVP 2005 is arguably the greatest baseball game of all time. The controls are solid and there is so much depth to it (particularly with fielding mechanics). Graphically, the animations are quite fluid but player models aren't...
Strengths: Graphics, sound, fielding, pitching.
Weakness: Batting.
Most baseball games that I've played lately have been ALMOST great, and MVP is no exception. The graphics show off the different MLB parks and players nicely on the xbox. The sound effects and broadcaster's commentary are decent. The pitching is the pitching-meter style which after playin' this game I have grown to appreciate. I love the fielding and throwing in this game where your fielders can...
Strengths: Great graphics and sound. Loads of options, including owner mode and character creation. Online roster updates (though not recently updated)
Weakness: Very long learning curve (at least for me). It was hard to get the timing down for hitting, which led to the game not being enjoyable right off the bat (pun intended).
EA revamps the MVP series with a good gem. The graphics and sound are excellent. The game control is very good, although there was a big learning curve for me. The hitting and pitching were difficult to get the timing down for, but now that I am familiar with them I really like it. Online mode is fun, though there is lag on the xbox from time to time.
Strengths: Graphics, commentary
MVP baseball 2005 is a great game. The graphics are really good and the gameplay is awesome. You have great control over what goes on in the field, and while you're at bat. You can hit home runs with sluggers and base hits with smaller people.
Strengths: 720p Graphics! Solid Gameplay.
Weakness: Not too much different from 2004
Being a baseball fanatic, I always love to play the newest baseball games. MVP 2005 is another solid entry to the MVP series. This game fixes some of the bugs the 2004 game encountered. EA Sports also sharpened the graphics of the game and added a few new features. This may sound great, but other than that, this game isn't that much different from the previous version. Now that this game is...
Strengths: great franchise mode, gameplay arcadey but good
Weakness: annoying soundtrack
This is a great game with loads of different options and modes. The core gameplay is pretty realistic to real pro baseball I think, although its presented in somewhat a arcadey way, with different icons and such. But your scores will always be pretty legit. The owner mode is a new feature and while it takes a bit to get into, totally hooks you into trying to develop the best team in the league...
Strengths: best baseball game
Weakness: none
this is the best baseball game i have ever played. the game is fluid, fast, and very fun to play. The game includes all of the mlb teams plus all of the farm teams down to single A. it is very fun being able to play as local teams like the norfolk tides. the game has live play and it is very good. Get the game if enjoy baseball, rent even if u don't.
Strengths: Hitters eye
Weakness: Announcing is weak. Espn's 2k5 has john miller and joe morgan which is cool.
I thought 2004 was probably the best of all the xbox baseball games available. EA sports continues to get my business when it comes to their sports games (mvp, madden, hockey and bball). The hitters eye is a good improvement over last years version.
Strengths: Solid gameplay, good graphics, online enabled, 720p HDTV support
Weakness: Not a vast improvement over the 2004 edition
Many sports gamers considered MVP Baseball 2004 to be the best baseball game of 2004. The 2005 version improves on last year's effort with some cool new features, most notably the Hitter's Eye. In short, the Hitter's Eye feature gives each pitch a unique color, letting you know what's coming so you can tailor your hitting accordingly. A couple of other new and enjoyable features include...

Having fallen deeply in love with EASports' Madden NFL 2004, I must confess that I’ve had a long and meaningful affair with MVP Baseball 2004 since it was first introduced to me. Make no mistakes, I still love Madden NFL very much but when I need some baseball in my life it’s MVP Baseball that I turn to to get some baseball loving. The franchise never failed to put a smile on my face, that is...

It has been an eventful year for sports video games. First, EA bought the exclusive rights to the NFL license effectively pushing all competitors out of the market. Then Take Two struck back by purchasing Visual Concepts and the exclusive third party rights to the MLB license. After all of the wheeling and dealing where does that leave the fans who are just looking to hit some dingers? It leaves...

MVP Baseball 2005
Strengths: Great gameplay
Weakness: ESPN has better presentation
This is the better game ofr the gameplay itself, the graphics are alos better. However, ESPN has better extra stuff, such as the presentation and the stat-tracking. Overall, MVP is a better game and the franchise mode is much better. The minor leagues are also fully included. It is also more realistic than the ESPN game.
