Pandemic strikes gold again with Mercenaries. Taking a page from Rockstar Games, Pandemic creates a sandbox game that actually is fun to play. The basic premise involves an organization of Mercenaries sent in to help collect the North Korean deck of cards (various high ranking military leaders). The mercenaries are ordered to capture them under any circumstances. The more destruction is caused,...
Strengths: Free-roaming, multiple ways to tackle minor and major objectives, great graphic and style to graphics, pick-up and play and just a really fun game.
Weakness: No Live or multi-player co-op.
People draw comparisons to the Grand Theft Auto series, and rightfully so. Drive anything, blow up anything, shoot anything... A little like GTA, but on a smaller scale -- having the chance to make this smaller scale a lot more detailed and deeper, so it evens out. If you like the Grand Theft Auto series, action titles, 3rd-person shooters or military / spy movies, you'll love this game. This...
Strengths: fun, free roaming, great graphics and sound
Weakness: no multiplayer, or XBOX Live
You can play one of three mercenaries. You can do what ever you want. You choose who you do business with the South Koreans, Russian Mafia, Allies. You can pretty much blow up anything. This game was very entertaining and addicting despite the lack of variation in the missions. I'd recommend this game to anyone who likes GTA type gameplay.
Strengths: Destroy anything, go anywhere - like GTA with bigger explosions almost
Weakness: Co-op multiplayer would have been nice to have.
Mercenaries is the latest in "sandbox" type games. Games that let you do anything you want outside of the story, and get to the story at your leisure. In Mercenaries, more of an emphasis is placed on large explosions, vehicles, and guns, hence the title. This game has outstanding controls and graphics, and the gameplay is excellent. The missions are varied enough so they don't grow stale, and...
Strengths: Great Gameplay, Good level of difficulty, decent AI, Destructable buildings and terrain elements, Open ended sandbox type play in North Korea, Great graphics.
Weakness: Driving Camera doesn't turn with the car to face forward, No Multiplayer =(, Tank driving control can be awkward with 1 analog stick.
Well I just finished playing GTA San Andreas (mission parts anyway) so I was left with the need to play something similar. Nowadays I consider these games to be my favorite. Of course the record sales of the GTA games serve to emphasize that many people agree. This game was relatively unknown to me besides a trailer I saw which looked decent, but I wasnt looking incredibly forward to it. When I...
Strengths: Very open-ended game play, lots of replay value, GOOD GAME
Weakness: After you beat it, game kinda starts over...could have done something better..
Replay value is tremendous, game has great gameplay, controls and excellent graphics...blow up anything you want. Find more things to blow up for bonuses....Play as different characters. Overall 9.5/10--excellent game.
Strengths: Great graphics and sound, free roaming elements, lots of carnage, Han Solo and Indiana Jones are unlockable characters.
Weakness: No multiplayer modes, too short, vehicles tough to control.
The best way to describe this game is that it's like a cross between Grand Theft Auto and Socom. Take the free roaming elements from GTA and the war aspect of Socom, mix them together and you get Mercenaries. This is a great third person action game. Basically you are a mercenary (you get to choose from three) in a war torn zone of North Korea. You get hired to do a variety of missions but it's...
Strengths: Numerous missions, good graphics, three different characters to play, enjoyable gameplay
Weakness: No multiplayer
Mercenaries brings GTA-style action to the 3rd person shooter gametype. Part military-action, part open-ended mission game is what makes up Mercenaries. As a mercenary, missions are chosen for the risk and reward, with all manner of destruction happening while on the missions. There are enough missions, under three different characters, to give the game some length, though the lack of multiplayer...
Strengths: free-roaming gameplay, can destroy almost anything
Weakness: missions gets repetitive after a while
Lucasarts has really outdone itself w/ this game. I REALLY LIKED THE GRAND THEFT AUTO SERIES BUT MY ONLY COMPLAINT WAS THE RELATIVELY LIMITED AMOUNT OF DESTRUCTION YOU COULD CAUSE. I MEAN, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE MILITARY HELICOPTER AND THE RHINO TANK, NONE OF THE OTHER VEHICLES CAN SHOOT ROCKETS OR BULLETS AND CAUSE MUCHO MAYHEM. ALSO THE BUILDINGS IN THE GAME COULD NOT BE DESTROYED....
Mercenaries
Strengths: Great gameplay, sandbox type mission structure, lost of stuff to blow up
Weakness: No multiplayer
Mercenaries is a sandbox type game set in war torn Korea. You choose from one of three mercenaries that are hired to hunt down fifty-two known enemies. The gameplay in this game is superb. You can drive any vehicle ranging from jeeps to tanks and the environment is very large and destructible. The game really gives you the sense that you are choosing what to do next and the missions are very...
