Star Wars Republic Commando

Strengths: Good graphics, Fun for every Star Wars fan

Weakness: Weak online play, Not a fan of the squad based games, Lack of story, Repetitive

When I first picked up this game I thought it was a great game. As I played it through I began not to like it as much, because I am not a fan of issuing orders to other team members. I really like the shoot 'em up games, and this game is not one of them. It does have some shoot 'em parts, but I think that this game is based around being a squad based game. This game also lacked a good story mode, and it lacks good online play. Even though this game lacks a lot of factors, it has some good graphics. I also liked this game because I am a Star Wars fan, and this game kind of helps you understand some elements in Star Wars. I recommend this game to those who are Star Wars fan and those who like squad based games. I rated this game a three because it was fun at certain points, but it lacked a lot of factors that make a first-person shooter game worth playing over and over.

Star Wars Republic Commando

Strengths: Very Good Graphics Strong Shooting Engine Good Squad Mechanics

Weakness: Can Get Repetitive Weak Online Play

I like this game quite a bit, it is one of my favorite First Person Shooters and my favorite squad-based game. The game plays well with the Star Wars Universe (despite the lack of Jedi) and has a solid shooting engine. The levels are varied but the enemies get to be repetitive. Their is a fair amount of strategy in hiding behind cover, using your squad well, and picking the right weapon for the right time. The graphics are superb and little touches like blood splattering on your visor add a lot to immerse you in the game. Highly reccomended, 8.8.

Star Wars Republic Commando

Strengths: Awesome single player campaign. Easy controls. Excellent audio.

Weakness: Poor multiplayer, online and off. Relatively short game.

Star Wars Republic Commando is a first person shooter that puts you in command of an elite squad of clone troopers. The neat thing about this game is that you are in charge of 3 other guys in your squad instead of it being just another run of the mill FPS. Ordering your comrads around is very easy and fun. If you or one of your team goes down, another member can revive him. The whole "team" aspect is great in the singleplayer story mode. The multiplayer, on the other hand, is very generic and seems like it was just tacked on. The online play should be like Rainbow6 3 but it is not. It is just your basic Deathmatch and Capture The Flag. Offline, there is no co-op either. If your a fan of Halo, Metroid Prime, and Rainbow6 3, check out Star Wars Republic Commando. Despite the multiplayer flaws, the single player campaign is a great, if not short, romp in the Star Wars universe. A-

Star Wars Republic Commando

Strengths: Graphics, sound, intuitive squad control, Xbox Live! support

Weakness: Levels can be monotonous, weak story element

This game is the first entry into squad-based shooters for LucasArts, and they pull it off pretty well. The game has extremely intuitive squad controls, and your squad stays with you -- but out of your way. The graphics are tremendous, and the high-quality sound is exactly what you would expect from a LucasArts title.

Each squadmate is supposed to have a unique personality and skills, but this aspect of the game falls a bit flat -- barely affecting gameplay and entertainment value. Lack of a variety of interesting enemies is the games largest fault. Of course, you are fighting a bunch of insectoids and droids, so how much variety can there be?

The game fully supports Xbox Live! The multiplayer maps are good, but there are only a few multiplayer game types. There are, however, some cool weapons available in the multiplayer game, which with more liberal use could have improved the single player missions.

I'm giving the game a four-star rating, but I'm a big Star Wars fan... so it probably deserves a three.

Star Wars done Ghost Recon style

Strengths: Solid visuals and sound; really fun gameplay experience

Weakness: Short campaign; mediocre multiplayer

Star Wars Republic Commando is a slightly different game than you're used to in the Star Wars series for the console. This is more of a squad-based combat type of game in the style of Ghost Recon. The game has solid visuals and sound effects. The great AI of your teammates on your squad make for a thrilling and fun game from start to finish. Unfortunately, the game is too short and lacks in its multiplayer mode. I would recommend this game for a rental since it can be completed in a weekend.

Star Wars Republic Commando

Strengths: Fun take on the Star Wars licence focused on combat during the Clone Wars

Weakness: Fairly linear game design

Star Wars Republic Commando is a squad-based first person shooter game set in the Clone Wars (between Episodes II and III). The game is a simplification of the more complex squad-based tactical shooters many Xbox owners are familiar with. However, if those games do not appeal to you, this "lite" version set in the Star Wars universe may fit the bill. It makes good use of the licence and features slick production values and cut scenes. The game is fairly linear and features more blasting action than strategy, but the variety of missions keeps it interesting.

STAR WARS

Strengths: great gameplay and atmosphere, good evironments

Weakness: game is short (only about 10 hours and only 3 missions)

Star Wars Republic Commando is a first person shooter for the X box. Think Halo meets Ghost Recon because this is a first person shooter that also incorporates squad based tactics in order to succeed. You play as an elite commando clone Trooper who works with three other clones to accomplish three main missions. One will take you during the invasion of Geonosis, while the second commands our team to investigate a derelict starship, and the third is to assist the Wookies in their home planet of Kashyyk against Trandoshan slavers. This is one of the best Star Wars games you'll ever play as it is highly enjoyable and action packed. You start of with a standard Blaster rifle which can later be upgraded to include a grenade launcher and a sniper scope. You also wield an arsenal of grenades such as electrostatics grenades that disable droids and also thermal detonators to blow up everything else. You also have a melee attack which is basically a one hit kill that is fun to do. You can issue one button commands to your squad mates such as manning gun turrets, breech doors, or blow open holes in walls. Your team mates also have smart A I in that they can find their own cover and fire at attacking enemies. The aforementioned three missions will have you been performing a variety of actions such as assassinating a high-ranking Geonosian general and defending your Wookie allies against their sworn enemies. This game also heads a multiplayer mode with such standards as death match and capture the flag. But it is not as good as the other multiplayer modes found in other first person shooters. Despite this small fault , I still highly recommend getting this game, especially if you’re a Star Wars fan.

Republic Commando Review

Strengths: Gameplay

Weakness: Story

Star Wars Republic Commando is a pretty well done game set in the Star Wars universe. You are a commando that gets to use a bunch of different weapons and such to fight bugs, bad guys, etc. The story is kind of disappointing but it doesn't matter much. The game is still very fun and if you like Star Wars you will probably enjoy it.

Star Wars Republic Commando

Strengths: Story, team-command control, gameplay

Weakness: not enough variety in the enemies and weapons

Star Wars Republic Commando takes place after Episode 2 and before Episode 3--so if you're a huge Star Wars fan, you got to pick this game up.

The gameplay is similar to all other FPS you have played but the big difference is the simple team-command controls. You have 3 other squad mates with you and can control their action with a simple press of a button.

The game does get stale midway through because of the lack of variety in the enemies and weapons. The multiplayer mode is okay but nothing special.

NICE!!

Strengths: GRAPHICS AND GAMEPLAY

Weakness: N/A

THIS IS A GREAT FIRST PERSON SHOOTER. DOES A GOOD JOB WIT HITS HEADS UP DISPLAY AND KINDA LOOKS LIKE METROID PRIME FOR THE NINTENDO GAMECUBE. THAT IS A GOOD THING. REALLY COOLS EFFECTS FOR COMBAT AND WAS A PRETTY INTENSE GAME FOR ME. THERE IS SOME CHALLENGE TO THE GAME, BUT IT DOES OFFER A TON OF FUN. I ENJOYED THE LEVEL OF DETAIL THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO SHOOT YOUR ENEMIES. GREAT FOR STAR WARS FANS. I LOVED IT!!

One of the best Star Wars games on Xbox. . .

Strengths: Interactive 4-member squad, exciting single player campaign, excellent audio, solid graphics, good squad member AI

Weakness: Short overall length, lackluster multiplayer, linear game play

Movie-based games haven't always done well by the source material, especially on home consoles. Knights of the Old Republic did an excellent job of taking Star Wars into the role-playing genre, and now Republic Commando does an excellent job of taking Star Wars into the squad-based first person shooter arena.

While Xbox is already home to a variety of first person shooters, Republic Commando ups the ante by giving the player command control over a fairly intelligent group of squad members who fight by your side. The action is pretty nonstop during the three-part single player campaign.

Given the Star Wars franchise, it's a given that the music and sound effects are excellent, but the graphics on Xbox are great too. The shortcomings include a short and linear single player campaign and generic set of multiplayer modes.

If you're a Star Wars or first person shooter fan, you should definitely pick this up now that it has joined the platinum hits budget line. Star Wars games don't get much better than this on Xbox, and this one stands out even in the already crowded arena of first person shooters.

Star Wars: Republic Commando

Strengths: Good graphics, good control, a different take on the Star Wars Universe

Weakness: Relatively short

Star Wars: Republic Commando is a first-person tactical shooter that takes a different approach than most Star Wars games. In this game you take on the roll of a clone trooper and lead a squad of other clone troopers through various missions. The graphics are very nice and crisp and like all Star Wars games the sound is good and straight out of the movies. The game also controls very well. The squad commands are easy to give using the d-pad and the computer AI is smart enough to figure out what you want them to do. The only downfalls of this game are that there are very few boss battles and the game is relatively short. The game offers an online multiplayer mode, but I have yet to try it out. This is a good first-person shooter though and Star Wars fans will enjoy playing it.

Excellent In Some Aspects

Strengths: Good Graphics

Weakness: The Gameplay is way to fast. The Plot is decent but the same thing you've done in other Star Wars Games.

I like this game and I Dont. The main reason I dont is because, the gameplay is too fast and it results in the game being to glitchy.Other than that its pretty good. The visuals are good and the sound is good.Xbox Live is somewhat difficult but, managable to use.The story is deep and delves deep into the star Wars Empire. The main difference between this and most other games in the shooting genre is this is a first person shooter as well as a squad based game. You can take on the Empire by your self or use your squa.you can command them to give you weapons or health or cover fire.If they die you can heal them and they'll do the same.My overall rating is 2 stars.
